Puutake Curriculum

Puutake Curriculum

Puutake offers both Rumaki Reo and Bilingual Reo pathways.  We receive students with diverse backgrounds and proficiency in Te Reo Māori from beginner reo speakers to our fluent students who come to us from kura reo.

TE REO MĀORI

Year 9 and 10 Te Reo Māori is made up of 4 combined reo classes based on proficiency.

  • Te Kākano is our introductory level class
  • Te Pihinga is our beginner class
  • Te Mahuri is our intermediate, confident level class
  • Te Mata Pito is our advanced class where students work at NCEA Level 1 and towards achieving Te Reo Matatini Literacy credits.

As we progress through the year, students who excel in their group will move into the next level to ensure they are always developing their reo proficiency.

Rūmaki Reo is practiced for the whole wāhanga 2 days per week, immersing everyone in the reo to support both our beginner speakers to grow confidence and to support learners who have come from kura Māori.
